Boycott!

To some this may seem very absurd but I am boycotting Publix. Chris is going to have to buy his own lunch meat from now on because I'm going to be a Kroger gal. I went to Publix the other day and I noticed that they had new spiffy looking carts. I knew that Andrew would be excited about them because on the side they have Bob the Builder, Barney and Thomas the Train. This is much cooler than the race car cart or even worse the cart with the blue seat that I make him get when we have Peter with us. But then I looked closer to the carts and discovered that they are even more special, they are "TV Karts" which you can rent for $1.00 while you shop and the kid sits in the front and gets to watch TV. I think this is absurd. I am not one of those East Cobb moms that lets their kids watch TV in the mini van any time they get in the TV. DVD players are for trips longer than 2 hours and then I am all for it. So I am certainly not going to let my kids watch TV while I shop. And we are also cheapskates so I am not going to pay an extra $1 either.

So here the problem, of course, that we encountered last night. Some other kid had the Bob the Builder cart and Andrew whined for our 30 minute trip. "I want the Bob the Builder cart" and since he is 3, he doesn't really care about all my excuses..Those are for special people..We can't afford that...You have a race cart. All he knew was he wanted the cart. We even got home and told him that if he wanted to continue to talk about Bob the Builder, he would have to do so in his room.

So I am not very happy with Publix and their introduction of a TV Kart and I will try the other Publix first and if they have them as well, then I am going to just go to Kroger. I think it is important for kids to not get their way and to also learn that they can't whine about it when they don't get their way but I am just throwing in the towel on this one. I don't want to have a parenting lesson each time I go to the store.

So I end this post now because I have Andrew hanging off my arm telling me "It's time to go to Publix and get Bob the Builder cart". We haven't mentioned it since last night so he must have been reading over my shoulder.
